FAQs

How often should I come to therapy?

I generally offer sessions on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis. I usually suggest starting with weekly or bi-weekly so that we can more consistently build our therapeutic relationship, but I understand this can be impacted by time constraints and finances.

How long do people usually attend therapy?

This is answer is so unique to each person! I’ve worked with some people for a few months to multiple years. We will always collaborate on what feels best for you.

Do you offer a sliding scale?

Sliding scale is currently full. Please see the sliding scale referral list for other options.

I offer three tiers of pricing options for individual sessions to help make therapy more accessible. You are guaranteed to be able to stay on this rate for up to a year. However, these spots often fill up fast. If they are full, I am happy to offer referrals to other providers offering accessible rates.

Please note, sliding scale is only available to individuals without insurance coverage.

How do I pay?

Payment is accepted through e-transfer and credit card. If you are accessing therapy through insurance, you will pay upfront and submit the receipt to your insurance after. I am a part of the NIHB program and can see individuals accessing therapy through this program.

What is your cancellation policy?

Appointments can be cancelled up to 48 hours before the session time for no charge. This allows me enough time to offer the spot to another client who may need it.

If you have to cancel within 48 hours before your session, the fee is 50% of your regular session fee. I am understanding if emergencies or acute illness arise.

Do you offer crisis sessions?

My schedule often does not allow for last minute bookings, but I can support you in offering referrals to crisis centers in your area.

What is a session like?

We will generally collaborate each session to explore how we can utilize the therapeutic space. This might look like returning to a theme from the previous session, following up on resources or exercises in between sessions, or delving into a completely new topic you want to prioritize. You can take a look at my approach page to get more of a sense of what I may bring into a session and how this can help guide our work together.

Where do we meet for sessions?

I offer three options for attending sessions including meeting in person at my office space in The Annex, meeting virtual over my secure video platform, or attending an ecotherapy session at High Park.

If we are meeting virtually, you will need to have a private space to attend the session as well as a strong internet connection.

Is therapy covered by OHIP?

Unfortunately psychotherapy is not currently covered by OHIP. Trust me, I know it’s frustrating!

Is therapy covered by my extended health benefits/insurance?

Thankfully many extended health benefits offer coverage for psychotherapy services. If your health benefits cover services by a Registered Psychotherapist (RP), then my services would be included in this! I encourage you to get in touch with your insurance and/or carefully review your policy to ensure you understand what coverage is available to you.

Can I begin seeing you right away?

Depending on both of our availabilities, I may have a waitlist to begin sessions. I’ll always share a general estimate of how long it may take to onboard you, and if it is feeling urgent I can refer out to a trusted colleague.

What if I’m feeling nervous to start?

I first want to validate that this is such a common experience when beginning therapy - I’ve certainly felt it too! I understand that in the beginning of therapy I am a complete stranger who you are trusting with often very vulnerable aspects of your life.

My goal is to help cultivate a space that feels safer, more affirming, and allows us a container to hold the parts that feel scared and vulnerable. I also welcome any feedback on what could help make the therapy space feel more comfortable for you.
